Liquid Love is a graduation film of Chuang’s when she was studying Radio, Television and Film in SHU. The story portrays a girl who believes that pheromones can be an inducement in human behaviour. By making her special perfume, she would be able to attract her crush, and overcome the obstacles between the two of them.

Liquid Love has been nominated and won several awards by many international film festivals. The film received positive reviews from audiences during screenings, and was sold to the Public Television in Taiwan. Many members in the production team delved into the film industry in Taiwan and later became prestigious filmmakers.

Behind the Scene- OST

The original sound track of Liquid Love was produced by composer Thomas Foguenne and director Vivian Chuang.

Thomas Foguenne is a Belgian composer and pianist based in Belgium and Taiwan, who had been nominated six times at the Golden Bell Awards in Taiwan for the Best Sound Award and won twice: in 2016 for <The Cat in the Closet> and in 2018 for <The Thorn>. Thomas Foguenne won the Golden Horse Awards in 2024 for the Best Film Music for his score for the Singaporean film Stranger Eyes by Yeo Siew Hua, after being nominated the previous year for his work on the Taiwanese film Trouble Girl.

As the film uses the making process of perfume as a symbol of love relationship, Chuang described the concept of the OST:

"Like dancing in the bubbles. I wanted it to start with a dreamy atmosphere and gradually wake up from a long dream. The fragrance should have fruity and floral top notes, while the base notes might contain something bitter and calm."

Following this concept, Foguenne skilfully captures the intricate range of emotions in the film through his music, providing a nuanced and concrete expression of the abstract themes.
